The 2018-2019 NBA season has seen a few teams that can make a deep playoff run but who will end up winning the NBA Finals this year? Will the Golden State Warriors three-peat or will another team from the Western Conference make the NBA Finals?
Everyone has the Warriors as their pick to win the NBA Finals and it makes sense. They added DeMarcus Cousins to their roster and have five All-Stars starting for them. That is an amazing feat but it may not be enough. While the Warriors gained another superstar player, they lost depth. Golden State’s bench has almost become nonexistent.
Part of the problem is that the Warriors don’t have money to pay players but that isn’t the only problem. The Warriors have five players that need the ball. That makes other players more passive and that hurts the team in the long run. And that may be why the Warriors will lose this year in the playoffs.
As good as the Warriors are offensively, the aren’t that good on defense. Andre Igoudala only gets older every year and with no real shot blocker this year, the paint is open. An explosive team can beat them this year and my guess is that a team with a great center will be the Warrior’s downfall.
While there are a bunch of great teams in the West, I believe the Milwaukee Bucks will be the ones to win it all this year. Giannis Antetokounmpo is unstoppable in the paint and single-handedly dominates teams. I expect him to dominate every team and I don’t think the league has an answer for him.
It will come down to the Bucks other players and I think they have added enough to give them a chance to make a run this year. They are clearly the best team in the East and I cannot see them lose four teams to an Eastern Conference opponent. I do see the Western Conference competing with the Bucks for the entire game.
Golden State has five superstars and teams can’t stop all of them. That is why teams leave Draymond Green open and that has worked for teams. The other team that might give the Bucks trouble is the Oklahoma Thunder. Paul George has been playing MVP like this year and I don’t see him slowing down. That would a great NBA Finals match-up.
There you have it. My picks are the Bucks and while it may be too early for them to win in many people’s eyes, I think they have what it takes to win.
