Raptors Confident That They Will Resign Kawhi Leonard

The Toronto Raptors have played great this season after trading for Kawhi Leonard in the summer. And it sounds like that the Raptors will have a lot of great seasons since they believe Leonard will resign with them.

Trading for Leonard was risky because he only had one more year left on his contract. That didn’t stop the Raptors from gambling on him and it looks like the gamble has paid off. Leonard and the Raptors had a great season but the biggest hurdle is still lingering above the team. The playoffs.

Everyone remembers how LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers owned the Raptors last year in the playoffs. Out of every team the Cavs played, the Raptors were the easiest competition in the playoffs. That says a lot considering that the Raptors were the number one seed in the Eastern Conference.

That horrendous playoff performance is why the Raptors traded away DeMar DeRozan and acquired Leonard. But we won’t get to see the Raptors overcome James this year since he is in the Western Conference now. Instead, the Raptors have stiff competition and will be tested.

According to Josh Lewenberg of TSN, Toronto really thinks they are in a good position to resign Leonard.

Behind the scenes, many Toronto Raptors officials have become increasingly confident in the team’s chances of re-signing Kawhi Leonard this summer, sources tell TSN.

If Leonard does not resign with the Raptors, they will get a lot of heat trading for him. I think trading for him was worth it because they overachieved with Leonard and he has looked unstoppable this season. He played better than anyone could have hoped for and has solidified his chances of getting paid this summer. The question that remains is who will be the one paying him.
