Kawhi Leonard Will Leave If the Raptors Lose to 76ers

The Toronto Raptors are facing the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round of the playoffs and are currently down 2-1 in the series. This series doesn’t look like it’s going in their favor and might determine their future going forward.

After this season, Kawhi Leonard will be a free agent and may leave the Raptors. Nobody knows what he will do but the current playoff run by the Raptors may be a factor. If the Raptors fall short of the Eastern Conference Finals, Leonard may leave and join a team that is ripe for making a deep playoff run.

We have seen Leonard play great against the 76ers and he has looked unstoppable. That hasn’t prevented the Raptors from trailing the 76ers in the series. If Leonard gives you 35 points, you should not lose. Yes, the 76ers are deeper than the Raptors and have at least 6 players that can score 20 points for them.

If the Raptors lose to the 76ers, then Leonard will leave. He won’t see the Raptors as a team that has the right assets to win. That has become the narrative in today’s league and that is why superstars are teaming up now. Leonard may end up doing the same thing if he wants to win and the Raptors just don’t have the assets.

I believe the Raptors will lose because they don’t have enough star power to win. After Leonard, Pascal Siakam is their second best player and that’s it. If they had one more star, they may have been able to make it to the Eastern Conference Finals. Instead, they will most likely lose in the second round.

This series is showing us what we already knew; you need a lot of stars to win. That has been the difference in the series. Leonard has been the best player in the series but he doesn’t help enough help to prevail.

The Raptors did trade for Marc Gasol earlier in the season but he is too old to be a factor. Toronto should have tried to acquire another star player but they didn’t and this is the result. The series isn’t over but I can’t see the Raptors winning if Leonard is playing great basketball and it still isn’t enough. That failure will be why Leonard leaves the Raptors and they have nobody but themselves to blame.
