Warriors Sweep Blazers in Western Conference Finals

The Golden State Warriors beat the Portland Trail Blazers in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals and are heading to the NBA Finals for the fifth straight year.

Game 4 went into overtime and the Warriors played great defense to win 119-117. Andre Igoudala was out due to injury and yet the Warriors didn’t miss a beat. Players stepped up and showed the rest of the league that the Warriors bench is better than given credit for.

Stephen Curry and Draymond Green both had triple doubles in the game and are the first pairs to do so in the NBA Playoffs. Curry had 37 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists while Green had 18 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists in the game. Meyers Leonard had a double-double with 30 points and 12 rebounds. His teammate Damian Lillard had 28 and C.J. McCollum had 26.

Getting swept to the Warriors has got to hurt because people will say how the Blazers didn’t belong there. The Los Angeles Clippers and the Houston Rockets both won two games against the Warriors and played a healthier Warriors team. The difference between the Warriors and a healthy Blazers team isn’t that big so why did they get swept.

It comes down to coaching and Steve Kerr does not get out-coached often. Lillard was playing through injury for half of the series but his struggles were one of the reasons why the Blazers lost. He is their engine and without him, the Blazers had no chance to win.

Most people are tired of watching the Warriors in the NBA Finals but they shouldn’t be. They are the best team in the league and play great basketball. It has been fun watching Curry take over when Kevin Durant went down because of a right calf strain. Golden State hasn’t lost since. We will see Durant back in the NBA Finals and while the Durant-less Warriors have been fun to watch, a healthy Warriors team is much more dangerous and almost unbeatable. Good luck to whoever wins the East because they will need it.
