Kawhi Leonard Buys Home in Toronto And it May Hint in Him Re-signing With Raptors

The Toronto Raptors have been trying to convince Kawhi Leonard all year to re-sign with them in free agency in subtle ways and it may have paid off. Leonard bought a home in Toronto and that may mean that he plans to re-sign with the Raptors in the summer.

Buying a house in a city doesn’t ultimately mean that the player will sign with that team. In this case however, that might be the case, Who buys a house in Toronto? If it was in New York or Los Angeles, it wouldn’t mean as much because most athletes have a home in one of the two cities. Not many athletes have a house in Toronto though. The ones that do play for that city’s team.

From what I am hearing at the moment, it looks like Leonard may end up signing with the Raptors for a short term. He may end up signing for three years and two of them will be guaranteed. That seems the safest route because if he isn’t happy in Toronto, he can leave after two years.

But that may not end up being the case. The Raptors have been acting in Leonard’s best interest all year and he has thrived under them this year. The fact that this team is in the NBA Finals is impressive because Leonard came back from a major injury and they have a rookie head coach leading the helm.

If I were a betting man, I would bet on Leonard re-signing with the Raptors. They had the advantage of having Leonard play for them for a whole year and convince him to stay. It looks like they made the most of that opportunity and we will have to wait till the summer to find out if they do end up re-signing Leonard or if he leaves.
